The Google Play Referral Flow report relies on data from Google Play and cannot display any data until you link a Google Analytics property to you the Google Play Developer Console. The Google Play Developer Console can only be linked to a Google Analytics property if both accounts are associated with and linked by an user with Edit permissions that is using the same email address in Google Play and Google Analytics.
For example, a Google Play account associated with developer@my-app.com and a Google Analytics account associated with analyst@my-app.com cannot be linked using these addresses. If product-manager@my-app.com was an administrator on the Google Play account and also had edit permission on the Google Analytics accounts, then this user can link the accounts.
Only conversions from the Google Play app are reported.
The Google Play Referral Flow only reports data for the Google Play Android app. Conversions that occur in the Google Play website or mobile web site are not included in this report. Downloads of the app from other marketplaces or via a direct download file are also not included as conversions in the Google Play Referral Flowreport. The Google Play Referral Flow report only displays Play Store Views, Installs, and New Users that happen within the selected date range.
Data in the Google Play Referral Flow report represents only the Play Store Views, Installs, and New Users that happened within the selected date range, making it possible for the report to display more data in a later step of the funnel than in an earlier step. For example, you might see more Installs than Play Store Views and more New Users than Installs in your report, which seems counterintuitive. Because time can elapse between each of these actions, the date range selected in your report might exclude a date on which the necessary preceding action occurred.
Although this is true about all reports in Google Analytics, we wanted to bring special attention to how the selected date range affects the Google Play Referral Flow report in particular.
Play Store Views, Installs, and New Users are not directed connected in the Google Play Referral Flow report.
Play Store Views, Installs, and New Users are reported as three independent data points in the Google Play Referral Flow report. Because of the possible time to elapse between each of these three actions, a reported Launch in a given date range might not have a corresponding Install or Play Store View in the same report. Do not assume there is a relationship between Play Store Views, Installs, and New Users in the report. For example, if you have 1000 Play Store Views and 500 Installs, you cannot assume any of those 500 Installs are connected to the 1000 Play Store Views. Any Install could be related to an Play Store Views that occurred before the selected date range, and any Play Store Views could either have no subsequent Install or be related to a Install that occurs after the selected date range.
New Users display sampled data, but Play Store Views and Installs do not display sampled data.
Data for Play Store Views and Installs are collected from the Google Play marketplace, but because data for New Users is reported from your app, the sample frequency set in your SDK applies. The sampling rate can make the New Users appear disproportionately low in relationship to the Play Store Views and Installs, and you should take it into consideration when viewing New Users in the Google Play funnel report. For example, if you see 1000 Play Store Views, 500 Installs, and 5 New Users in your report and you have a sampling rate of 10%, you have a total of 1000 Play Store Views, 500 Installs, and 50 New Users. Because the reported number of New Users is based on sampled data, the number in the report should be divided by the sampling rate to find the approximate number of actual occurrences. Play Store Views and Installs, however, are not sampled and already display the number of actual occurrences.

Follow the instructions in our developer guide to adjust your sampling rate, but note that the change won’t be reflected in your Google Play funnel report.
